The Sappington House Foundation board sincerely thanks all the attendees of the Trivia Night, the contributors of auction items and the many volunteers. One group of volunteers was the Webster Groves High School History Club. They were the runners, servers and clean up crew. It was great meeting so many members of the community supporting the mission of Sappington House which is:
To preserve the past by inspiring generations to discover and appreciate their own and their community’s heritage.

Historic Sappington House – Some Background
The Sappington homes and farms spread over a large area of what is presently known as Sappington, MO. The Sappingtons came to the area shortly after the Louisiana Purchase and flourished in the new country. There are a number of Sappington houses still standing, but the Thomas Sappington house is the only one that is restored and open to the public as a museum on a regular basis.
It is located just at the edge of the area that the Sappington-Concord Historical Society officially covers, but considering the importance of the Sappingtons to the area and it being the namesake of the Society, it deserves active recognition and support by the Society and its members. Many people assume that the SCHS and the Sappington House are the same organization or are directly related, but they are not the same nor officially related. The Sappington House is owned by the City of Crestwood and is overseen by its own board. The Sappington-Concord Historical Society is not officially part of the Sappington House, just a namesake. The Sappington House is a jewel of restoration and history in our area and should be recognized for its importance in the history of the Sappington-Concord area.
