COOL SOUNDS AND CHILLY TREATS UNDER THE STARS
Ice Cream Social and Big Band Concert at Historic Sappington House St. Louis, MO; May 16, 2016: What a way to spend a summer evening in St. Louis! Sappington House, located at 1015 S. Sappington Road 63126, is sponsoring an outdoor big band concert and ice cream social on Saturday, June 25, 2016 from 7 to 10 p.m.
The Thomas Sappington House park is the lush entertainment venue for the Gateway City Big Band, a 17-piece band with two vocalists, performing swing and recent musical styles. If that isn’t cool enough, a Ronnie’s Rocky Mountain cone, the chilly favorite of the Muny, will be included in the ticket price. See more about Ronnie’s in the video below.
Advance tickets are $20 for adults and $1 for children under 12-years-old. Ticket outlets include the Sappington House Museum, The Barn restaurant, Loft Gift Shop and the Crestwood Community Center. Tickets at the gate will be $25 and $1. Chairs will be available for first 130 attendees, and late arrivals should bring lawn chairs or blankets.
A cash bar and savory foods will be offered from The Barn restaurant’s deck.
Sappington House was built in 1808, during the presidency of Thomas Jefferson, and is now a museum on the National Register of Historic Places. Complimentary tours of the museum will be conducted during the evening. All proceeds from the concert will support the ongoing preservation of historic Sappington House.
Free parking will be located across the street at Crestwood Elementary School and nearby to the south in overflow parking off Reco Avenue.
For more information, phone 314-822-8171.

Photos below from the performance at the Sappington House ice cream social. The band was set up in front of the shed at Sappington House which had just served recently as the “field headquarters” for the AIA for the dig at Sappington House. The lawn sloping towards the shed made a natural amphitheater all nicely shaded by trees. The building next to it with the peaked roof is the Library of Americana. It all was a great setting for a cool concert!
Did you get yours? 🙂 Guaranteed to hit your chin as well as your taste buds. Not a problem, you can wear your Ronnie’s Rocky Mountain chin tattoo with pride.

Did your fundraiser make good money for the Sappington House? I enjoyed helping out!
Don’t know which was better, the music or the Ronnie’s. And what a great place for a concert!
I don’t usually listen to music like this, but I loved it!
I’m glad my friends called me about this concert. I wouldn’t have wanted to miss it.
Thanks for sticking the flier in my door. I’m glad I could get here.
What a beautiful place for a concert ice cream social.
You have to do this again. When is the next one?
How can I sign up for the next ice cream social?
