See the artifacts from the archaeological dig at Sappington House
“What did the students find in the dig at Sappington House?” is the question most often asked about the dig. You can see now on display at the US Grant National Historic Site, a sampling of the almost 1000 artifacts found. The exhibit is open through Wednesday night at 5:00 pm.
The exhibit was set up for the student presentations event held last Sunday, Nov 20 at White Haven. Maybe you missed the students’ talks, but you can still see some of their biographical sketches.
The maps they made of the excavations are on display along with the data sheets they filled out. See the whole archaeological report done by the chief archaeologist on the job, Robin Machiran.
The exhibit is in the visitor center at US Grant National Historic Site which is open 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The Grant Historic Site is on Grant Road opposite the entrance to Grant’s Farm. See directions and photos on White Haven page.
