Sappington-Concord Memorial Park
Sappington-Concord Memorial Park was the traditional location of the SCHS annual Memorial Day ceremony, however the ceremony moved in 2015 to the green at St Lucas UCC on Denny Road, just up the street from the park. This was due to possible construction at the former Johnny’s Market property. The park still remains at the center of the Sappington-Concord community even though the ceremony is held elsewhere. The central focal point of the park is the polished red granite monument, the “World War II Honor Roll,” (photos below) which was first erected as a wooden monument during WW II in 1944 to list the names of those serving in the armed forces. The monument was re-built in 1995 through the combined efforts of SCHS and the Concord Village Lions Club.
