Sunset HIlls Historical Society is a neighboring society to Sappington-Concord Historical Society, and the histories of their respective areas are thoroughly intertwined.
In 2013, the SCHS worked with the Sunset Hill Historical Society which sponsored a major event for the South County area and the whole of St. Louis, bringing the AVTT Traveling Vietnam Wall to St. Louis. The June 2013 event was community wide with contributions of funds and man hours from many local individuals and organizations. A number of SCHS members and SCHS board members were also active in the organization of the event. SCHS contributed funds for the event as did both SCHS members and board members. Many SCHS members attended this large and important event for the SCHS community and the whole St. Louis area to honor Vietnam veterans. SCHS is very thankful to Sunset Hills Historical Society for sponsoring the traveling wall and for inviting SCHS participation in the event.
Below is a pictorial essay of the AVTT Vietnam Traveling Wall event, though it is not comprehensive. Three of the four programs are represented here in photos.
