It is an historic recreation of the moments just before the famous Apollo 8 “Earthrise” photo was taken by Bill Anders on December 24, 1968. The year 1968 was a shocking, violent, controversial year in American history. Then this moment came on Christmas Eve that shifted the focus briefly from our earthly concerns to the bigger picture of mankind and our place in the universe. Said Jim Lovell, (the earth is) “…a grand oasis in the vastness of space.”
