Carondelet Historical Society “Market Street: The First Street in St. Louis”

Presentation at Carondelet Historical Society by Maureen Kavanaugh, “Market Street: The First Street in St. Louis”

Sunday, November 1st, 2016 at 1:30 pm at Carondelet Historical Society

Maureen will discuss how the topography of Greater St. Louis shaped the evolution of our culture and civilization from about the year One Thousand, with a particular emphasis on Market Street, the first road in St. Louis. In the course of her talk, Maureen will show clips of the documentary she wrote and narrated and which her son, Tom Kavanaugh, Jr., filmed in 2010.

Maureen Kavanaugh is the sole proprietor of St. Louis Walking Tours and a former elementary-through-junior-high art instructor with the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Twin passions for architecture and history led her to research and construct tours for her art classes, which led naturally into public tours when she retired from teaching. Over the past twelve years, she’s had the pleasure of exploring St. Louis history and the area’s many rich, historic sites with visitors from around the U.S. and the world, and with people of most ages—from six-year-olds to seniors in their eighties.  For more information about St. Louis Walking Tours, visit Maureen’s site by clicking here.

Maureen will offer her DVD documentary on Market Street for sale and she will be happy to sign it for anyone interested.

Light refreshments will be served.
