The January meeting of the Sunset Hills Historical Society will be devoted to presenting its “Historian of the Year” award. This year’s honoree is Charles H. Hoessle, Director Emeritus of the Saint Louis Zoo. Charlie was hired by Marlin Perkins as a reptile keeper, moved up the ranks to director, and retired ten years ago. To honor his 40-year career and contributions, a life-sized statue of him was erected in front of the Zoo’s Herpetarium.
Please join us in honoring Charlie Hoessle on Monday, January 26, at 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Hills City Hall, 3939 South Lindbergh.
